Did the new deal work or cause more problems? FDR’s New Deal programs have been the topic of discussion for years among historians. The New Deal programs helped bring the United States out of a depression as well as help avoid a future depression. It was through the New Deal that the role of the government was expanded and became more involved in the everyday social and economic lives of the people. The New Deal was a series of programs launched by Franklin D. Roosevelt during his presidency. The programs were split into 3 categories referred to as the 3 “R’s”: Relief, Recovery, and Reform.
