The West and East of Germany was no longer considered Germany after the treaty had taken effect, which put Germany at a disadvantage because the places that were taken away were coal-mining areas.
In spite of that, the coal production had dropped to forty percent. This event would increase the tension that would eventually lead to World War 2. Hitler has stated that “the restoration of the frontiers of 1914 could only be achieved by blood. Only childish and naive minds can lull themselves in the idea that they can bring about a correction of Versailles by Wheedling and begging.” Hitler definitely showed some anger in his words when he made that statement, and that hatred had to have been one of the contributions to the beginning of World War 2. Consequently, punishing a country like Germany can have dire consequences. The addition of taking land away from Germany was unnecessary and in the end it created more problems than they ever could have
predicted. The Treaty of Versailles restricted Germany’s power Militarily, which made Germany’s overall strength in numbers fruitless compared to other countries. The Treaty of Versailles forced Germany to reduce their troop count to 100,000, and doing that really takes away all the power that Germany had. The Treaty of Versailles states that “the total number of [military troops] must not exceed one hundred thousand men, including officers.” After Hitler had came into power he did not follow this rule because he knew that Germany would not stand a chance as a global power. That rebellious attitude that Hitler exhibits creates conflict with other countries. After the war everyone blamed Germany for everything that happened, so they set up a system that would make Germany pay for all that had been lost in the world war. They would pay what was called reparations which were incredibly costly on the the economy. The Treaty of Versailles states that “she will make compensation for all the damage done to the civilian population of the Allied and Associated powers and to their property during the period of the belligerency.” By forcing Germany to do these sort of things, it becomes inevitable that Germany will start a war in the future. The Reparation system is too punishing for the economy of Germany. The reason the Treaty started the war was because of how many limitations it put on Germany as a country. The Territorial debacle was unnecessary and took away coal from Germany. The strain on the military made Germany powerless. The reparations were a economical drag on Germany as a whole. All of these things put Germany in a very bad place. When you take away a country's resources, power, and economy a war is to be expected.
