[Q] 1. As a teenager, what did you think your career/job would be as an adult?
When asking my Grandmother what her first career would be when she was growing up, she stated that she had intentions of becoming a doctor. After taking high school courses related to health and science, she decided this would be a path for her, and then went on to become an accountant.
[Q] 2. What was your first paid work experience? Was it during high school or afterward? How many hours a week did u work? What did you get paid?
My grandmother said that her first work experience was working in a sewing factory at the age of 12. She never gave a clear answer, but said she didn’t have long hours due to her working just to support her mother. She told …show more content…
Did these experiences help shape your career and current job?
The three things that my grandmother said she had learned were, working hard is required if you want to get anywhere in life, work ethic is vital and the most important aspect of who you are as a person, and finally she mentioned that she learned the gruelling work that her mom had to go through. This job didn’t exactly shape her career directly, but it helped her develop ideologies and things she considers important in life.
[Q] 4.As you continued on your educational and career path, did you have a mentor who inspired you to approach the working world in a certain way?
My grandmother never had a mentor, but she did have an inspiration, and it was supporting her brothers and sisters. She knew that she would have to put in 100% of her time and effort into school and work after her father had died, when she was 11. She knew that her mother wouldn’t be able to support 4 children by herself, so she took initiative and helped as much as she possibly could.
