1.0 IntroductionBiodiesel is defined as mono-alky esters of long -chain fatty acid. It is a fuel that derived from the vegetable oils, animal fats, which is similar to the diesel fuel except that it is made from the crops. It is produced from domestically grown, renewable sources, such as crop oils or animal fats which are then chemically converted into biodiesel (Habmigren, 2003). Unlike diesel, biodiesel contains no petroleum products and free of sulfur compounds and aromatics (Habmigren, 2003). Until today, it is still the only alternative fuel for motor vehicle. The biodiesel blends have ranged from 2/98% (B2), 20/80% (B20), to 100% (B100) (Hafman, 2003). The reasons biodiesel is a viable alternative to diesel from fossil fuels for trucks and buses are it can reduce the pollution, it can enhance the country's economy, and it is renewable sources and can produce almost same energy as diesel fuels.…
Self-propelled vehicles have been around 1672 but were not introduced to mainstream America until 1902. Older vehicles were powered by steam engines which gave way to the internal combustion engines that are powered by either gasoline or diesel fuel. Diesel fuel and gasoline both cause air pollution and also play a role in global warming. The ever increasing cost of oil along with the restrictions on greenhouse gases and environmental laws is now pressing the world to create safe alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel.…
A diesel mechanic is a special type of mechanic that has a decent salary. Becoming a Diesel Mechanic is a great idea because of the decent salary and the days you have off.…
passed the law that said that if you buy a car that weights 6,000 pounds or more, that the government will buy it for you essentially in tax breaks. It is insane to look at how much we need hybrids and fuel-efficient cars yet consumers go for the cars such as hummers and other large gas-guzzlers. Diesel cars for a while were not appealing due to the fact that they are loud, smoky and not fast. Yet these days Europe have come out with vehicles that have turbo charged diesel that are quite appealing. In 2007, these diesel engines have changed dramatically and according to the emissions, standards for diesel vehicles and gasoline vehicles have become equally the…
Complexity is reduced in a diesel engine as there is no ignition system but this is not a total advantage as they can be noisy and may require frequent maintenance intervals when compared to a petrol engine.…
There has always been a history of stereotypes surrounding what kind of car you drive. If you drive a small, fuel efficient, gasoline powered vehicle you can be considered environmentally considerate and practical when it comes to cost savings on gas; whereas driving a diesel-powered truck shows that you do not care about environment with your smoky, loud engine and you can usually be found at a gas station fueling up. However, are the stereotypes correct? With advancement in clean diesel technology, lower costs in overall maintenance and better fuel efficiency as well as a safer, stronger engine, there is a clear advantage within diesel engines.…
Diesel engines became commercial vehicles during this time period. Military vehicle became diesel in the 1970’s because they was more reliable and had more power. Emissions came into place during the 1970’s because of the rise of pollution and were tempting to control it. Modern diesel mechanics are trained to use electronics to diagnose problem that the vehicle has. New diesel engines run off bio diesel, which makes them run cleaner.…
“The planter, the farmer, the mechanic, and the laborer, form the great body of the people of the United States, they are the bone and sinew of the country men who love liberty and desire nothing but equal rights and equal laws.” A diesel mechanic specializes in repairing and maintain diesel engines. Diesel engines are used in vehicles from trains to ships to buses and trucks. Not only does a diesel mechanic use the basic tools of the mechanic’s trade such as screwdrivers, wrenches and drills, but they use more advanced equipment like dynamometers. Diesel mechanics typical maintenance task include cleaning filters to keep the engine running properly and rebuilding the engine every hundred thousand miles.…
Gasoline powered vehicles are better! No, hybrids are better! Have you heard these two points-of-view? This last election, the question of energy was a part of both party’s platforms. They talked about wind and solar versus coal and oil, and gasoline versus hybrid vehicles. So here we are, the election is over, but the battle between a gasoline powered vehicles versus a hybrid continues. You might know someone who owns a hybrid car. My uncle bought one in 2006 and for him it works great, but he usually just travels back and forth to work. However, my uncle’s needs are not the same as my dad who is a contractor. In the end, you need to weigh the pros and cons before deciding on which vehicle is best for you. After much research, it is my opinion that a gasoline powered car is better than a hybrid for these reasons: purchase and repair costs, towing and passenger/cargo capacity, and the cars impact on the environment.…
Vehicles that are equipped with an internal combustion engine, or ICE, use gasoline and diesel to power the engine. The reason these vehicles are used over any other kind of highway vehicles is because of how good they are at what they do. “Internal combustion engines produce outstanding driveability and durability¨ (Energy.gov, Internal Combustion Engine Basics). The internal combustion engine gets the job done and, with common knowledge, repair shops, and dealerships everywhere, ICEs are easy to maintain. (Energy.gov, Internal Combustion Engine…
Diesel-controlled motors give more miles per gallon, furthermore last more, than gas-smoldering motors. And also being the force behind our country's trucks, trains, and transports, they are likewise getting introduced all the more every now and again in light vehicles, for example, traveler vehicles, pickups, and other work trucks.…
