There are many things that are similar between the terms health and nutrition. Health is an all-encompassing term, which includes nutrition. Part of being healthy is proper nutrition; without proper nutrition, the effects can be detrimental. The body can heal itself from many different illnesses and restore health, and good nutrition is needed for this. Nutrition, however, is a branch of health. “There are three aspects to health: nutritional, structural, and emotional” (Q&A Categories). Nutrition is the food-based part of health, while health is more than just food.
There are numerous positive effects to diet and nutrition. If you are consuming an adequate amount of fruits, vegetables, and fiber, many digestive diseases can be prevented. You will be keeping your digestive system regular, and in turn, absorbing all the nutrients your body requires. It has also been said that if you consume healthy foods and a balanced diet, your skin will be clear and healthy (Bouchez, C.).
All to frequently we hear about obesity in the United States. Obesity is when a person has too much body fat, which can be as a result of poor diet and nutrition. If someone is not consuming enough fruits and vegetables, eats sugary and/or fatty foods, and does not get enough exercise, their body will begin to store excess fat. They will not have a regular digestive tract, making it harder for the body to absorb vital nutrients. By not closely monitoring your diet, someone can easily become a victim of obesity and all of the health risks associated with it.
Crohn’s Disease is a disease that can affect digestion and absorption in the bowels. It is an inflammatory bowel disease in which the immune system attacks healthy cells of the gastrointestinal tract. It can cause patients severe pain in the abdominal area, due to the inflammation of the bowels. Because of this, many
