Talking specifically of politics the author produced some facts reflecting the manifestations of invisibility of tribals from the political process and their ineffectiveness in making their claims heard by the formal political system also mobilisation at a national level.
The author then moved on to the history of adivasis uprising and demonstrations where over the last four decades, they expressed their public and collective discontent with the policies and programmes of the state. Some of the protests were led by traditional leaders and taken recourse to traditional means (as in Bastar in 1966 or in Jharkhand in the late 1970s) and others were mobilised by social activists (Narmada Bachao Andolan).
