Difference Between Laurie Halse Anderson

Laurie Halse Anderson is a 55 year old author dedicated to her work. Laurie is known for tackling sensitive topics but with care and compassion. An example of this is her 1999 book, Speak, which won Golden Kite Award for Fiction. In the making of Forge, “she walked barefoot in the snow, cooked over open fires, wrote by candlelight, slit wood…” ( dust cover of Forge, Laurie Halse Anderson). Clearly, her appreciation of Forge’s topic is shown. She is a prime example of hard work paying off. In the acknowledgments section of Forge, she thanks four historians who corrected her work. But she had to had gone out and searched for someone. “Four history professionals combed the manuscript in search of errors and I am grateful…” (page 295). She also
visited multiple historic parks like the Valley Forge National Park. Laurie also thanks Tobias Huisman, “for again helping with Dutch translations” (page 296). Laurie is an author who tries to do as many hands-on activities concerning a topic she is writing about. This dedication pays off in all her books.
