Collection 02 Performance Task: Expository Essay (Perception vs. Reality) Out of the books we read they all showed a point where they had Perception vs. Reality. In The Giver both Jonas and The Giver have a change in perception and in “ Sorry, Wrong Number” Mrs. Stevenson does. The story The Giver shows how Jonas and The Giver have a change in perception, By: Lois Lowry. The drama “Sorry, Wrong Number” shows how Mrs. Stevenson has change in perception, By: Lucille Fletcher. In my opinion I think that The Giver and “Sorry, Wrong Number” are both great stories and the change in perception of all the characters is phenomenal. The cause-and-effect events in the stories progress throughout the story like when Mrs. Stevenson assumes her husband will never leave her home …show more content…
Stated in Chapter 16 on page 152, the narrator says that “ Jonas did not want to go back. He didn’t want the memories, didn’t want the honor, didn’t want the wisdom, didn’t want the wisdom.” After the horrific memory of war and of the murder of the twin, Jonas no longer wanted to be the Receiver. From all of Jonas’s memories of Cruelty of the real world/beyond the border he and The Giver need to make a change, so they made a plan for Jonas to leave the community.
In the story The Giver the character The Giver is a role model for everyone but he doesn’t think that he can do anything to make a change. In chapter 20 page 193 The Giver states “I suppose I could help the whole community the way I’ve helped you. It’s an interesting concept. I need to think about it some more.” When Jonas gives The Giver the idea of him releasing the memories he thinks that he can help the whole community. After The Giver and Jonas been together for a couple years he starts to feel confident since he has been with Jonas for so long, he can make a change to the community with Jonas by his
