The original story, A Rose for Emily, is a thrilling story of Emily. Emily symbolized how the town lived. Faulkner described Emily as a fallen monument. She was a young girl brought up by her father under strict southern gothic traditions. The fictional story unfolded in a fictional city named Jefferson located in Mississippi.
