In the book the setting said it was in West Egg “the less fashionable” (Fitzgerald 5). Also the author mentioned it happened at “wilson’s garage” (Fitzgerald 25). In the movie, the setting has a bit of a change. There are more places added. In the movie, Gatsby’s mansion is in the movie as well as Long Island.
In the movie, some of the characters differentiate from the book. For example, in the movie Daisy admits her love for
Gatsby. In the book she never mentioned anything. Gatsby was the only one to admit the love. In the book it never mentioned that Gatsby got his money from inheritance. Nor did it mention that he was a war hero. In the movie, Nick drinks more than it says he does in the book. He is like an alcoholic in the movie, just like Tom.
The book and movie have different views of the parties. The first party in the movie was the second party in the book. The third party is the last party before Gatsby was killed. After that party he didn’t mention as to why he didn’t want to have anymore in the book. In the movie all he did was tell Nick about how he knew Daisy didn’t like it. After that he didn’t have another party. Tom showed up with Daisy to the third party and wanted to meet Gatsby. In the first and second party Daisy wasn’t at Gatsby’s nor was he at the apartment with Nick and Tom.
