Grendel is a cowardly, agitated, and cruel monster. He is cowardly since he only comes out at night. He is agitated because of the noise humans make combined with a grudge against humanity itself. He is downright cruel because he rips people apart and eats them for pleasure.
Beowulf is brave, calm, and confident. Beowulf shows bravery by taking on Grendel, a horrific monster, and not backing down. Beowulf is calm because if he isn't, his will could be shaken and that mean he could die. Beowulf is confident is his ability to fight a man-eating monster so much so, he doesn't use any weapons.

If Macbeth wasn't swayed by her words he wouldn't have killed Duncan in the first place. This would have led him into a different path, one that doesn't involve killing so much he becomes numb to his own lover dying. Lady Macbeth pressures him and when she thinks he might back out, she goes to demons and spirits to get the strength to kill Duncan for Macbeth, so he can be rightful King. If none of this happened Macbeth as a whole wouldn't have happened and these two characters would be alive for another
