Differences Between Lewis And Clark

1) Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, was called upon Thomas Jefferson, and went on an expedition to see the land that was west of the Mississippi, known as the Louisiana Territory that had been purchased from France in 1803. Lewis and Clark set off on their trail, it began near St. Louis, Missouri,in may. There group often called the Corps of Discovery named by the historians faced almost every obstacle that ever was on the planet on their trip. Louis and Clark faced horrible weather they also didn't had any food or any water so they needed to stop in the Mississippi River. When Lewis and Clark met their first winter, they got help from the Sacagawea, a Shoshone Indian.

2)Thomas Jefferson hoped that Lewis and Clark would find a water in Columbiai and Missouri rivers. These water rivers would be part of the Pacific Ocean with the Mississippi River system.As this result happens the giving land called new western land has access to port markets out of the Gulf of Mexico and to easternmost cities along the Ohio River and its minor tributaries. At the time, both American and European explorers had gone through of what would become each end of the Lewis and Clark Trail up the Missouri. A lilting bit of miles to the trapper headquarters at Fort Mandan and up the Columbia just a bit over a hundred
miles to a point a little beyond today called Portland Oregon.
3) Traveling to Washington Lewis and Clark returned home and received a warm welcome from nearly place they went. Many towns that gave a warm welcome to Lewis and Clark held special events to celebrate the explorers’ return as they passed through. Once they reaching the nation’s capital, Lewis received a payment for his brave efforts. Along with his salary and 1,600 acres of land, he was named governor of the Louisiana Territory. Lewis also tried to publish the journals that he and Clark wrote during their great adventure. After that Clark started to have a drinking problem and denied is duties as
govener.

4 ) Lewis died on October 12, 1809, at an inn near Nashville, Tennessee.When Lewis died he was heading to Washington DC. Most people believe he committed suicide while a few people believe that he was murdered. Despite his tragic end, Lewis helped change the contery of the United States by exploring unknown territory called the American West. Lewis work inspired many people to follow his footsteps and created great interest in the region. Lewis did a great job and advance scientific knowledge.Through his careful work numerous discoveries of previously unknown plants and animals were made.
