They argue that this has become such a problem that the FDA limits how many somatic cells can be present inside our milk. The US allows many more somatic cells in our milk than many neighboring countries. The truth is that somatic cells are white blood cells and are not exactly the same thing as pus cells. The number of somatic cells do correlate with the quality of your milk, but it's not the same as pus.
