Multiple case designs (embedded)
This research conducted in two villages in Lombok Island which are Kopang Rembige village and Tete Batu Selatan village, therefore, this research could classify as multiple cases. The research would explore and assess in detail the process of making and implementation of digital social mapping. The two villages have a different motive in order to apply digital social mapping. The Kopang Rembige village used the digital social mapping based on external intervention while the Tete Batu Selatan village used the digital social mapping based on the village head initiative.
The data and information in this research come from primary and secondary data. The primary data obtained from different respondents or informants. The informants are chosen based on a snowball technique. The researcher will know other respondents based on the result of informant’s interview. This technique would offer reliable information to the researcher because the researcher could be able to reconfirm other informants’ views or opinion about the case. Furthermore, this research would also use participation and empowerment theoretical to support the result of the case.

The unit analysis may have similarities with the unit observation because the unit observation is a group of people, event and other activities that become the object of research. However, both terms could divide based on the function or context in the research. Unit analysis is the way to analyze data and information and how to draw the conclusion while unit observation is a method to collect the data. The unit observation is a basic concept in qualitative research. It represents the things that are observed and about which information is systematically collected. The unit observation in this research is the stakeholders who involved in the creation of the digital social mapping
