Dionyysus In The Mountains

One of the main rituals that were very prevalent throughout this text is the ritual of the attire necessary for worshipping Dionysus in the mountains. In the text, the women are described as, “Dress yourselves in spotted fawn skins, trimmed with white sheep’s wool.” (110-111). A ritual is described as a repeated action for the purpose of conveying or learning a meaning or knowledge. Since every woman in the mountains was wearing these fawn skins, it had an important meaning in the rites giving praise to Dionysus, which makes wearing them a ritual.
