Technology is a good thing when used correctly. It allows students to use the skills and the resources we have today in their learning environment. Most students are already familiar with how the internet works and can use those skills to help learn. Money is always an issue in education and technology can help. Virtual field trips, electronic forms instead of paper, email instead of printed memo’s, virtual labs, electronic textbooks, and the thousands of free online resources can all save schools money and give students excellent educational experiences.

Also, there are students that have a harder time learning when there is technology involved. Jason Saltmarsh explains “The use of technology hasn’t really produced any significant results in the past 20 years, and, even more troubling, studies show that increased screen time is harmful to children’s social and physical development.” Now just because there were no significant results doesn’t mean it isn’t helping, it’s just that schools shouldn’t just jump to conclusions and push technology towards every student's way. Technologies main goals, according to The U.S. Department of Education states that technology “expands course offerings, experiences, and learning materials; supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; builds 21st-century skills; increases student engagement and motivation; and accelerates learning.” Technology does these things if it is used properly. It needs to be executed by not only the schools but also the students as well.
