Disciplinary, Harsh, Unfair Because Of Religion

Punishment. Disciplinary, harsh, unfair. Unfair between men and women, unfair because of religion. Women should not have to suffer harsher punishments because of their gender. In many countries across the world, organisations are working to decrease violence against women in the name of honour, culture and religion. In Muslim countries such as Jordan around thirty women are killed for dishonouring their families. Hundreds are seriously injured by the male members of their families by simply being in the presence of a unrelated man. Often men do not face severe punishments for these barbaric, unjust acts against women. Men receive support from the court and will often face little or no punishment. Whilst women are punished or killed for even the smallest of offences. Many punishments are unjustly decided and are often more severe towards women. Men attend law courts, whilst

Firstly punishments differ between men and women in the Muslim religion, but one of the most common practises that still occurs today is honour killing. This occurs when a women dishonours her family by having a relationship before marriage, marrying a man her parents don't approve of or having intercourse with man even in the cause of sexual assualt. The male members of her family can murder her to restore the honour of their family and not receive any punishment. They can claim that they never had a daughter, sister, wife and most don't allow anyone to attend her burial where she is laid to rest in an unmarked grave.
