Webster Dictionary defines discipline as training that develops self-control and character which results in an orderly and efficient life.
Where there is no discipline, there will be no character
Character is what you are when nobody’s around. Character is the real you which only you and God knows. And it is important to building a meaningful, purposeful fruitful and successful life. You can be talented and gifted, but without character, you wouldn’t make it. But it really doesn’t matter how you start up in life, but how you finish, and God wants you to finish well. “And everybody says…”
STEPS OF BECOMING DISCIPLINED 1. Get rid of bad habits The most common reason for indiscipline is bad habits. Bad habits stand as a hindrance to attaining discipline. Getting rid of bad habits is another step to attain discipline. Eph. 4:22-24-“That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
2. Ignore negative influences It takes a disciplined mind to ignore negative influences. Your relationship shapes who you will turn out to be in life. 2 Cor. 6:14- “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?”
