Discontinuity And Controversy
From my perspective, I tend to agree that they both work together simultaneously, but it's hard to really say which one is more dominant because evidence is very fragile. One thing that does come to my mind when we talk about continuity and discontinuity is the fact that it speaks high volume about evolution. Now from a bigger perspective, I believe that maybe discontinuity works by having continuity gradually adapt and improve genetically through time itself, thus making the illusion that discontinuity is making qualitative leaps on its own. For example, the Feedly article titled "Evidence Rebuts Chomsky's Theory of Language Learning", talks about how Chomsky believed that our language learning was in our human biology, but later is rebutted

    the five enduring issues

The first issue is “Person – Situation.” This issue deals with wither behavior is caused by internal traits such as thoughts, emotions, motives, attitudes, and personality or external situations such as behavior of others and social expectations. An example of this is anger. What makes certain people get angry faster than others? Is it internal problems that causes that or just particular situations. The second enduring issue is “Nature – Nurture.” It raises the question of wither a person was raised to be the product he is or is it just that person’s nature? Does upbringing affect the way we end up acting or is it just a product of innate. An example of this debate applies for a serial killer. Does he kill because it's in his genes? Does it mean that no matter what his parents did to raise him, he would still be a violent person? Or did his environment shape him to be a serial killer? Like his parent's didn't pay him enough attention, or he was abused as a child. The third enduring issue is “Stability – Change.” This issue deals with how much of one's behavior is consistent and how much is changeable over a lifespan. There is debate whether a person has the same character throughout his life, no matter what his personal experiences and behaviors are or if he is easily affected by them. Developmental psychologists are interested in this issue. For example; does a behavior or trait such as shyness stay stable in its expression over time? Or…

    discussion week 2

For this week's discussion I chose to focus on the importance of mentorship in nursing. This will focus on identifying the characteristics of mentors that have (or could be) most successful in recruiting and training diverse nurses and nurse faculty. At my facility me and another fellow nurse are head of our units mentoring program. This program that we have implemented focuses on the new graduated nurse and follows them through their first year of nursing. The new graduated nurse is paired up with a seasoned day shift and night shift nurse to answer any questions, facilitate a mentor-new graduate relationship and help orient the new nurse and try to build a strong, confident nurse. We routinely once a month see that the new nurse and their mentor meet to see how thing are going and see if they have any problems or concerns whether it be clinical skills, problems with other staff/physicians, prioritizing, and task management. Through this we are hoping to be able to increase morale, patient satisfaction and increase nurse retention. As new nurses enter the workforce they face a challenge going from student nurse to professional nurse. One must be prepared mentally, physically and emotionally to be a mentor and to set a productive learning environment for the new graduate.…

A True Testament of Time, The Preamble to the Constitution The succinct, memorable, and iconic legal document, the Preamble to the Constitution, is a true testament to the American style of writing and is an instantly recognizable piece of literature when the first three words are heard. The document, written by many members of early American politics such as Gouverneur Morris, a founding father, an American statesman, and an acclaimed diplomat and senator, aided heavily on the considerable impact the Constitution had on not just the nation, but the world. Senator Morris’s work on projects such as the 1777 Articles of Confederation, what some consider to be the “original” constitution of America, was what helped make positive progress in early…

    Mexican Independence Day

Why is September 16th Mexican Independence Day? What happened on that date? (Include in your answer a summary of two Catholic priests: Miguel Hidalgo and Jose Maria Morelos). Notably, September 16th is Mexican Independence Day because revolutionary activity was already a pattern throughout Mexico, “but the cause celebre of independence was El Grito de Dolores (The Cry of Pain), a proclamation made by Miguel Hidalgo, a parish priest, on September 16, 1810 (Vigil 112). Furthermore, Hidalgo was a Criollo, a Jesuit, and fairly well off, but most importantly he felt a concern for less-fortunate members of society, so he could be characterized as an activist puro (Vigil 112). Consequently, his goal was the liberation of Mexico, even if the gachupines…

Have you ever wondered about school shootings, or heard of them on the news? What is the theme of This is Where it Ends? In the text sylv is the most impacted perspective because she loses her brother but doesn’t lose Autumn so she’s thankful for that. The POV (first person) is supported through the text because you see all the characters thoughts but they come through their own…
