P2: List and describe FOUR different discriminatory practices by the staff that might take place in this residential care home.
There are many ways how a person can be discriminated the four that I am going to speak about are overt and covert abuse, bullying, abuse and prejudice.
Overt and Covert abuse:
Overt discrimination is a discrimination which is clear, it is obvious that they doesn’t want to hire or provide service to the person most commonly it is based on race, gender, age and even religion. An example an elderly which has a dark skin is being discriminated by the careworker because she doesn’t want to wash him. At the other hand covert discrimination is obviously the opposite of overt discrimination, covert discrimination is when someone is still being discriminated but not in an obvious way and it is not clear. For example an elderly person which has a dark skin the careworker doesn’t want to wash him but she doesn’t make it obvious so she keep making excuses that she have a back injury she have something else to do etc.
Bullying:
Unfortunately bullying is becoming more and more common amongst children, workmates, elderly and people with disabilities. There are three different types of bullying these are verbal bullying, social bullying and physical bullying. Verbal bullying is when you write or say bad things on people for example teasing or threatening. Social bullying is when you hurt someone’s feelings for example embarrassing someone publicly and leaving someone behind but on purpose. The last one physical bullying is when you hurt someone’s body such as hitting and pushing. So basically bullying is when someone use force, threat and intimidation on someone to dominate that person. An example of bullying is a careworker is using verbal bullying on a disabled person she keeps saying that he has no good to society, he’s waste of space etc.
Abuse:
Many people abuse

Discrimination is unfair or prejudice actions of people toward others that are categorized differently based on a persons age, sex, disabilities, religion, and race. “Discrimination does not necessarily mean absolute deprivation (the minimum level of subsistence below which families or individuals should not be expected to exist),” (Jones, 2007). There are several forms of discrimination. The work place will discriminate against a person because of their sexuality and not hire him/her because they are gay or lesbian. This is a form of direct discrimimation. “In the United States, employment laws are very strict regarding discrimination and the laws serve to protect individuals from being discriminated in the workplace. The laws also serve to guide employers on acceptable conduct for its employees with regards to discrimination,” (Admin, 2011). If…

The revelation of institutional racism within the health care industry affects not only the access to health care but also the quality of care received. The manifestation of this type of racism affects delivery of health care, financing and research, which results in the excessive closure of those facilities serving mainly the minority communities (Randall, 2010). Not only are the facilities serving the minorities being closed, the minorities visiting other facilities or “private hospitals” are being transferred due to being an unwanted patient. Due to the facilities believing in this type of racial practices,…
