01) Psychosocial Assessment This assessment will provide information about Mr.K’s mental health and support system evaluation. K has bad smoking habits, it can affect wound healing. Smoking decreases oxygen delivery to the tissues and it causes impaired blood flow, which is critical for wound healing. Additionally, smoking increases the risk of infection and prolongs the healing process.
4) Stress levels – Chronic stress levels make the cortisol levels higher, and it suppresses immune function which then reduces the production of collagen. The stress levels and the hormonal imbalance caused by the stress weakened the body’s ability to repair wounds sufficiently and there were some other risks such as poor diet and smoking which Mr. K was already addicted to.
5) Social isolation (Psychosocial factor) – Social isolation decreases the emotional support and increases the stress levels. These facts later could negatively affect mental health and could unmotivate the wound care regimens. In addition to that, there could be side effects such as, poorer nutritional habits and lack of self-love. These facts can indirectly impact wound healing.
