Settings in England and Wales must be registered with Ofsted who are a governing body who ensure the child’s education follows a curriculum and that a child’s welfare is provided for at the setting. Ofsted visit settings regularly to inspections to regulate the settings safeguarding, protection and welfare policies and the procedures they follow. After inspection each setting is graded on its effectiveness and Ofsted can work with the setting to iron out any problems. Settings policies are what they aim to achieve are mostly linked to procedures which are step by step guidelines on how to achieve them.
