I found your Discussion Board Forum 4 post quite interesting. I didn’t agree with the post in its entirety. Opening a new business is hard work. Anyone looking into opening a business should thoroughly do their research. Betty has done some great ground work by researching a few franchises. The franchise concept is a great option for someone new to the business world. The franchisor usually continues to support the operation of the franchisee 's business by providing advertising, accounting, training, related services, and in many instances, products needed by the franchisee. (Satterlee, 2009). Betty would not be in business by herself. She would have professional advice throughout this journey. If Betty chose a sole proprietorship she would solely be responsible. Franchising means using a tried and tested formula to benefit from the experience and support of the franchisor (Schizas, 2013).I don’t agree that she shouldn’t employ Emma solely because of beliefs. Emma would be an employee not a partner. Emma is fully aware that Betty wants to run a Christian coffee shop. I would not choose Alice to partner, because of her husband’s firm beliefs that his wife should be at home. I would not want to start any family problems. However, I do believe that Betty’s husband could be her business partner. The financial contributions will assist greatly with Betty’s goals. I agree that Betty needs to consider other names for her business, because “The Gathering Place” was taken”. I think it is a great idea for her to name her business something that lets customers now that it is a coffee shop. Betty should look at the pros and cons of all the business types and go from there. Regardless of what decision Betty makes she needs to look to God for guidance to make the right decisions.

As the world’s largest retailer, Walmart has set the bar in the cost leadership strategy following its motto “Every Day Low Price”. In order to be competitive, other retailers have to strive to differentiate or match their prices and they look at Walmart as a benchmark (Yanrong, 2013). Being the leader is not good enough though. Walmart must remain dissatisfied with their current results. Melanie Hicks writes, “when things go according to plan, Tennessee companies have, when they are market leaders, is out of complacency” (2010).…

Gun control advocates do have a moral obligation to reveal their true intentions regarding the ultimate consequences and potentially obscure implications of the policies that they espouse. By attempting to prohibit firearms incrementally, yet failing to inform the public of their true intentions, these organizations deceive and manipulate individuals who only support moderate gun controls into unknowingly advancing a cause (prohibition of guns) that they may not necessarily stand for (Kleck, 2001). Moderate gun control supporters are thusly being used as pons by organizations who help them achieve their more moderate goals, only to then move on to more extreme controls that moderate gun control supporters may not have originally supported. To omit information or true intent for the purpose of fulfilling a political goal, however well-intentioned, is deceitful and immoral, especially when the strategy relies on the support of misled individuals supporting more than originally bargained for.…
