Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are serious conditions that affect the blood vessels and the heart by many ways, and some of these diseases can lead to death. As stated in the World Health Organization," CVDs are the number 1 cause of death globally: more people die annually from CVDs than from any other cause." [1]. Also, according to the heart foundation, " Heart disease causes 1 in 3 women’s deaths each year, killing approximately one woman every minute." [2]. In some …show more content…
cases, there are no clear symptoms to make people know that they affected by CVDs. If this happens, the heart attack will be the first sign to warn the patient, and heart attack can be observed by many symptoms. For example, pain in the chest, back, left shoulder, and arms. There are a lot of diseases which affect the heart and the blood vessels. Cardiovascular diseases have six types.
The first type of the diseases that affect the cardiovascular system is pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis which affects the veins of the leg as blood clots. Another type of CVDs is rheumatic heart disease that occurs in the heart valves and its muscle which leads to their destruction. The third type is coronary heart disease which affects the feeding of the heart muscle through the blood vessels. Next type is peripheral arterial disease which impacts the supplying of legs and arms by blood vessels. The fifth type is cerebrovascular disease that is similar to the third and the fourth types, so cerebrovascular disease also affects the blood vessels, but the one which supplies the brain. Congenital heart disease is the last type of CVDs that is birth defect of the heart
structure. The congenital heart disease (CHD) is malformations since birth that impact on the function of the heart. According to the National Health Service Choices, "Congenital heart disease is one of the most common types of birth defect, affecting up to 9 in every 1,000 babies born in the UK." [3]. CHD can be evident by many signs. For instance, rapid breathing and heartbeat, overstrain, extravagant sweating, and cyanosis which give the skin blue color. Also, there are many subtypes of CHD. Pulmonary valve stenosis, tetralogy of Fallout, and single ventricle defects can be as examples of these distortions.
To sum up, it is obvious that each part of cardiovascular system can be affected by a really serious disease. These diseases that affect cardiovascular system sometimes can be observed by many symptoms, but most of the time it cannot be identified. It is a fact that cardiovascular diseases have more than one type. The most common type of cardiovascular diseases is congenital heart disease, and it also has many subclasses.
