Honor, in today’s society, not only correlates with the amount of trust, respect, and authority that is bestowed upon a person, but it can also be used as a measurement of character. Reed's and Enright research on forgiveness has demonstrated that a forgiveness recovery program resulted in psychological benefits for women with a history of emotional abuse by a spouse or romantic partner. This review of Reed & Enright (2006) includes a summary of the article, a personal reflection of the material, and application points for future consideration. The article in review employed a case study format that puts forgiveness therapy and will be referred throughout this paper as FT and Alternative Treatment which will also be referred throughout this paper as AT under comparison in women who has experienced emotional and psychological abuse whom have been separated for 2 or more years with no interest on reconciliation. The main goals of the article were first to provide data that proves that FT is more beneficial for women as a therapeutic approach (Read & Enright, 2006).…

A glance at the title "Deportation at Breakfast" immediately drew my attention. Perhaps it was Larry Fondation's choice of words that struck me. The words "deportation" and "breakfast" could be interpreted as two contrasting terms. "Deportation" could be associated with an extreme situation, while "breakfast" simply suggests a mundane activity. By injecting a sudden twist in the plot, Fondation was able to create an extraordinary situation out of an ordinary day at the restaurant. However, what intrigued me the most was not just the plot twist but the narrator. After reading the last line "There was no way I could run this place alone" (215), I immediately sensed an shrouded connection between him and Javier's arrest.…

“I’m never speaking to you again!” is a phrase that people use to hurt someone. A long time ago, when I was little and did not understand my mischievous ways back then because my mother and I were fighting on October 15, 2002. It was about going out hunting with a friend. After the disagreement I said “I wished I was never been born”. Over the years, I was looking back to the horrible things said to my mother. I asked my mother for forgiveness on January 5, 2006. My mother said, “I forgive you because you’ll always be my son. So never let the guilt cling you no more.” After hearing that from her, I was given a chance to move forward with my life from the guilt that once clings. Is granting forgiveness to be the best way to handle a situation where someone hurts us? Yes, forgiveness is the best way to compress the pain, anger and regrets because you will become a much stronger person. Forgiveness is a powerful word that shows great benefit to a person and move on from the people who cause impact to the situation in your life or theirs.…

Making a story out of the first information that comes to your hands is something a journalist should never do, at least not before verifying that the information provided is true. People tend to confuse the words truth and accuracy when it comes to information. Some fact might be accurate but are a lie, they are accurate to the lie; other details can be true but the ways they are presented are inaccurate. A journalist should search a way to make his or her information the most true and accurate there is in order to make himself accountable and transparent for the audience. People read news every day and believe what is said, as a journalist the best you can do is tell the truth, you don’t want people believing and living a lie.…

In the biblical days, they had a system based on honor/shame. Where there highest individual would be the patron, the current emperor at that time. Under him would be his clients, and under them would be their clients, so on, so on. It even went as far as in the home, where the husband was the head of the wife, children, and slaves. At the lowest part of this system were the slaves that were crucified. This system was known as the Patron/Client System. In this essay I will be noting the similarities of then and now.…
