Disney Princess Personality Types
“I try to build a full personality for each of our cartoon characters - to make them personalities.” – Walt Disney
The sound of kids laughing ringed through my ears as the Disney All-Star Movies transportation bus pulled up to the parking lot at Walt Disney World Resort. My stomach began to turn as the butterflies fluttered rapidly. I trailed behind my family as we walked towards the opening gates. My smile stretched across my face, and my cheeks began to feel sore. I listened as my mom gave her safety instructions. I was ready to go. I was ready to ride the rides. I was ready see the famous Disney Castle. I was ready to meet all of my role model Disney princesses. I was ready to go. My mom was protective.

They become guided by ideals rather than practical thoughts. In the movie, Beauty and the Beast, the main character Belle forms an idealistic personality. Belle is a young, beautiful girl that has an extraordinary imagination. She dreams of having adventure and romance in her dissatisfied, provincial life. Belle’s idealistic personality assists her in obtaining the things that she truly desires.
Belle stumbles across an enchanted castle with an effort to save her father, only to discover that the prince and his servants living there were cast under a spell. With much assistance from her new friends, Belle uses her idealistic personality to draw the beast out of his isolation, and eventually break the curse. Belle uses her optimism, bravery, and imagination to save the characters within the castle. If Belle did not have the personality of an idealist, the outcome of the story could have ended in numerous different ways. She uses her optimism to give the characters hope. She uses her bravery to stand up to her violent village. She uses her imagination to help her become open to the idea of saving the castle before it is too late. Without this heroine the characters would have been cursed forever; fortunately The Idealist pulls through and they lived happily ever

For the past seventy-eight years, Disney has been creating disney princess movies, a phenomenon that has swept the world, with worldwide gross of up to six hundred million dollars. Little girls from the age of two watch and enjoy these chauvinist movies, spending hundreds on outfits so that they can resemble their most idealized princess. The official disney princess line-up includes Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Merida. While a single caucasian girl’s dream is blossoming, dreaming about the multiple princesses she could grow up to be, an african american girl’s is falling to pieces, with only a single idealized role model to chose from. While a child yearns for a prince to sweep…

This can be seen as a push for feminism in the movie because it doesn’t focus on her being because she’s a girl. Also it changes how things are normally executed in fairytales. Some examples include Tiana rescuing Naveen, the princess also being changed into an animal, Prince Naveen being a playboy and they changing into a hard worker, and Mama Odie who says to think about your wishes and if that’s really what you want. These are probably introduced into the movie because Disney is looking to find a prompt that will make people watch and buy the movie. Viewers want to have a role model that will be a good example for small children and make them change themselves for the…

She is a much better person than most people. She is very kind to all creatures, whether it be animals or humans. Cinderella takes it upon herself to robe, feed, and befriend the animals of the house. She takes care of her evil stepmother and stepsisters because she is good at heart, and she will put up with their torture to help them. She could choose not to help them, or just to leave, but she knows that she won't have anything left, and they need her. It is because of this pure, perfect attitude that the prince falls in love with her instantly, and not with the other girls that just want to be with the prince for superficial reasons. Her effervescent kind-heartedness that prevails through her hardships is an example of the humanistic perspective. The humanistic perspective views behavior as controlled by the decisions that people make about their lives based on their perceptions of the world. It's a view in which personality is seen as developing through an actualizing tendency which unfolds in accordance with each person's unique perceptions of the…

However, life in the kingdom was far from perfect. An evil witch, angered by the king’s rejection of her, had placed a curse on Princess Emmaline: On the day she was to be presented into society, the curse would come into effect, and then she would then be plagued with the worst of luck for the rest of her life. Upon hearing this, the king closed the castle off to outsiders, attempting to protect his daughter from the effects of the curse. He tried his best to make her happy through other means: all the books she wanted, all the newest fashions, all the toys a young girl…

Children are introduced to Disney movies at a very young age. Due to the fact that children often choose role models to look up too, it is reasonable to assume that they often aspire to be just like their favourite Disney characters. Since the majority of young, female characters within Disney movies are expected to portray the stereotypical roles of women, this can have a negative impact on young girls who grow up watching Disney movies. The stereotypical roles that are portrayed by the female characters in Disney movies include: performing household chores, being dominated by the male figures in their lives, as well as portraying the ideal body image of a woman.…

“Skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony.” Snow White, the princess who began it all. She is described as being the most beautiful in all the land, and it seems that this is her most desirable quality. This movie is teaching little girls that as long as they are pretty, boys will want them. Young girls that see Snow White see that she’s beautiful, she’s kind, and she is treated unfairly. But underneath all of those truths, there are some other things she teaches the youth. When she begins living with the seven…

    John Lubbock Personality

John Lubbock once wrote, “Your character will be what you yourself choose to make it”. An individual’s character represents the type of person who they really are. The statement made by John Lubbock is incorrect because when two people are choosing the right decision, the outcomes are different for each individual. Although choosing the right decisions can have an impact on a person’s character, outside influences are more effective when defining who we really are. Our character traits are formed by influences beyond our control through our mental and physical state.…

Disney animated films, universally beloved by people of all ages, can be seen as a reflection of Western ideals on femininity throughout history. Feminist scholars have divided Disney heroines into four groups: The Classics, The Good Daughters, The Princesses, and The Tough Girls. We’re going to tackle each group one at a time, and it's only fair to start with the ones who started it all: Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora. The original princesses have very similar personalities and traits. They are all kindhearted, innocent, beautiful, asexual, goodnatured, and musical, and two of them (Snow White and Cinderella) are used to forced physical labor. Also, all three princesses lack a decent mother figure; Cinderella and Snow White suffer from cruel stepmothers, and while Aurora has a biological mother, her mother is unable to protect her and she spends 99% of the movie unaware of her mother's existence. The evil woman who is after them is conniving, intelligent, calculating, and often hates the heroine purely because she is innocent and beautiful, while the villainess is depicted as over-sexualized and evil on all accounts. So Walt's original creations all have very similar stories, but they have personalities of their own that are worth exploring.…

    Fairy Tales

While Disney developed a formulaic approach to fairy tales (basic elements in its formula: good prevailing over evil, emotional, catchy songs, cute sidekicks for comic relief, young romance, funny jokes) it also created a formulaic approach to how young girls set goals or standards (Chan 231). The plot usually containing a story of good prevailing over evil usually occurs with an older woman who is jealous of the young princess. All of the princess movies are also turned into musicals with the princess having a beautiful sing along voice and the cute sidekicks are always around to help save the day. The young romance helps fulfill the ideal of a “Happily Ever After” life that includes the princess and her prince, and the life that they are about to embark on together. Some good morals can come out of the stories, but it often leads young girls to believe that they should just wait for their prince and that is all there is to life. As the popular culture is evolving and women are beginning to be seen as stronger figures, Disney has decided to modernize the princesses as well. These movies mock the old values of the other princess movies by making them hard working and independent woman. Children, mostly girls, can begin to grow up with a better look on what will be important to them in the future as Disney continues to create more modern princesses that can relate to all children everywhere.…

Since the 1920s Disney has had a large influence on generations of children especially when Disney debuted their first full lenght film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on December 21, 1937. Since the release of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’’ Disney has introduced many other Princesses such as Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) ,Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Rapunzel (Tangled), Merida (Brave) in the last 90 years. Films such as these have often been studied because they are such major source of entertainment for so many children and can have an impact on their social, emotional and mental development. One of the main studies of these movies are the gender messages conveyed through out them. Over the years Disney has worked harder to change this bad reputation by creating stronger more independent princesses and shying away from the “damsel in distress” and has succeeded.…
