Distance Rocket Evaluation
Before baseline 11-10 launches, the distance rocket traveled 6.73m and weighed 1.12 grams and the seconds rocket went .92 seconds and weighed .95 grams. By adding some cardstock for fins and taking off my clay and replacing it with tape it went quite a bit further and it went quite a bit faster, the weight was .93 grams. With the weight taken off, the rocket went 1.796 m farther.

For the baseline launches, the distance average was 7.465m and .91 seconds and for the height the average was 2.46m The average velocity was 8.213m/sec. The weight for the rocket was .92. The design of the fins likely led to the results.

After baseline launches, the design of the rockets fins were changed many times, the fins were pushed up the barrel and there were numerous changes to the tip of the rocket, such as the material, number of fins, and shape. The main reason for the change of the rocket was because everytime the rocket was changed its height and distance would get smaller. Because of results the rocket design was changed back to its original design, This time the rocket started to do better, but it still needed improvement.

The reason the rocket did not go very high was because the day before the contest launches the rocket was altered without having enough time to have a test fly so the results on the distance rocket were not tested as they should have been. The Height rocket on the other hand was built and went quite high, but it was made about a week before the contest launches and it could have been bumped and the fins could have

The rocket I produced was a normal looking rocket compared to the group of rockets I was working with. It was medium size in length and thickness. The head of the rocket was a little wide and lose, and the flaps were not arrow dynamic what so ever. To improve the flight I could have made my rocket shorter and thinner because the smaller the mass the greater acceleration. Doing this would improve the acceleration of the projectile in this case the rocket. Also to improve the acceleration I could add more alka-seltzer to the film case. Doing this would add a greater force to push off of which would make the rocket go higher and faster. Lastly I could have made the structure for the rocket more aerodynamic. To do this I would make the flaps triangles that do not stick out. Doing that will let…

The principle two engineers on the case Robert Ebeling and Roger Boisjoly objected to using the solid rocket boosters as is, and prompted for a redesign. Despite their complaints Ebeling and Boisjoly could not get upper level management to agree with a redesign effort. Days before Jan 28, 1986 upper level management conducted good engineering practices then they would have allowed another redesign effort. Another redesign effort or postponing to…

After the catapult is built, we will have to use a Protractor for when we pull the fork back to match up with both angles. Then, after we pull it back we let go and see how far each object went for each angle. After we launch the launch angles for 32° are; 3.1ft, 7 ft, 7.3ft, 8.6ft, 9 ft, 9.2ft, 10 ft, 12.7ft, 13.1ft, and 14.5ft. For 25°, the launch angles are ; 2.1ft , 4.3ft, 5 ft, 6ft, 7ft, 8ft, 8.3ft, 8.11ft, 10.11ft, and 22.4ft. Then you when you turn them into inches and after that when you add they together you would get 1129 for 32° and 993 for…

What I learned about bottle rockets is the smaller the bottles, the higher the rocket goes. The rocket has to have water on the bottom for it to fly. What I did for my rocket is I got two 2 liter bottles. I cut part of the bottom off one of the bottles and taped them together. But, you have to make sure it’s not sideways. If the bottles are taped on sideways if won’t fly straight. Then, I cut out four fins and glued them on the bottom of the rocket. With the fins there is a better chance it with fly higher. Next, I cut out five strings for the parachute. We put a parachute on it so that when it comes down the parachute will slow it down for it not to hit the ground hard. For the parachute I got a plastic bag and taped the strings to it…

So this is based on the speed of the rocket. And the speed is also involved in what the weight of the rocket is and the force it has from the water. Because the mass and acceleration is being forced going up. The rocket needs enough force in order for it to take off. You can't have a huge mass and not enough force, because it will not work.…

It is the eighteenth century grandma! Yes we have roads and canals for transport but the “Rocket” is faster. The “Rocket” is a great way for transport. It is on an industrial rail line that’s not going anywhere but where we want it to. It pulls ten tons of ore. It can also pull seventy people at five miles per hour all at the same time. If there was anything wrong with it then so what. I would rather risk my life than saying I never tried riding the “Rocket”. How cool does that sound!…
