ESTRATEGIA DE DIVERSIFICACIÓN – CASE IMAGINARIUM Mai Pham

PREGUNTAS 3: ¿Cuáles son las claves del éxito de la empresa? Busque la información necesaria para argumentar su respuesta. First of all, Imaginarium’s key success factor is that they know how to distinguish themselves from competitors in the toys industry. The success will be explained by using elements of the so-called “value chain”. According to Félix Tena1 (general director of Imaginarium) himself, the key factors to his company’s success are its logistics and the detailed study of any implementation (before it is definitely implemented). Looking at the production, Imaginarium chooses to focus on toys that positively influence the formation and development of children through play and fun. Other than its competitors, this company has specifically chosen not to sell toys related to violence or sexism, because this does not positively influence the upbringing of children. Regarding marketing and sales, Imaginarium tries to get the attention of both children and their parents. Unlike competitors, they do not use advertising through television commercials. Instead, the toy retailer uses their stores – the attractiveness of and the experience in the stores – as a way to sell their products. Concerning Imaginarium’s HRM policies, they specifically choose employees who have an interest in the well being of children and who can identify with the company’s vision. Most employees are recent graduates in the field of e.g. pedagogy, psychologists, or educators. This way they know how to deal with children coming into the store, and moreover they can obtain parents’ confidence (who eventually should buy the toys). Concluding, there are many factors that can explain Imaginarium’s success, but most importantly is that they company has distinguished itself from its competitors by really identifying with their customers’ needs.

Alternatively, Ray Bradbury’s imagination also appears in “The Fog Horn.” Bradbury has his own style of imagery and the way he bring it to life. For instance, Bradbury states, “I’ll make a voice that is like an empty bed besides you all night long, and like an empty house when you open the door, and like the trees in autumn with no leaves. A sound like the birds flying south, crying, and a sound like November wind and the sea on the hard, cold shore” (grammarpunk.com), this is a representation of a human’s soul, his heart or the inner self. The voice has a symbolic meaning; it stands for one’s desire of another, the significance one. His use of simile to give life to a voice is creative and unique. As the quotes resembling everything that…

After I took some time to reflect back on my past experiences I realized that diversity has affected me a lot more in my life than I thought. When thinking about question number one (Growing up do you remember discovering that your family did anything differently from other families because of your culture, religion, or ethnicity?), I realized that this actually had affected me and I did not really even realize it. I grew up in a family very rooted in Jesus Christ and the belief that he is the only thing that truly sustains us. Growing up I was always in church, we prayed as a family before every meal, and simply made loving other people a priority in our lives. For me these things seemed completely normal for a while, they just seemed like something that I was innately supposed to do.…

The Oxford English Dictionary defines diversity as “the state of being diverse” (OED par 1). The word diversity originates from the Middle English diversite, an English root meaning, “to turn aside” (OED par 4). Diversity personifies a cross-culture exposure to develop openness approaching distinctive personalities and perspectives to improve human connection with a variety of people. Yet, human diversity may connote issues of ethnicity and may struggle with the continuation of addressing the common goal of embedding diversity into routine operations. In today’s century, human interaction amplifies by the increasing use of social media, but inclines to lack the focal point of exporting strategies that relate to essential topics.…
