ok now look around you, what type of people do you see in this room? Now I'll tell you what i see. I see a diverse group of people different ethnic backgrounds, different religions, as well as different cultures. Were one small portion that represents American diversity. We may all be joined together by a common cause but that doesn't mean we know that much about eachother. According to an Article by David Lewis he said that "America maybe diverse as a whole but, block by block and institution by institution, its a rather homogenous nation". We need more diversity in America. Because we don't set fourth the effort to get to know others outside of our race, outside of our religion, outside of our culture. We ourselves create stereotypes. We tend to say things thats not true. Not because we don't know or aren't capable of knowing we actually believe it's true. For instance different races may think that all black people eat chicken. How do i know? Its simple i dont even eat chicken, so no all black people do not eat chicken. It also leads to ignorance, whats the definition of being ignorant?lack of knowledge, education, or awareness. The lack of knowledge education or awareness. nobody wants to be labeled ignorant but it is ignorance when you judge somebody different then yourself based on your knowledge, based on the fact that you didnt get educated and learn about their culture, and you weren't aware of their ethnicity. You may be wondering what i mean when i said being aware of their ethnicity. I know that some of you have done this before called somebody something there not. Not like a bad word but personally i've seen someone who i thought was mexican and called them mexican and they looked at me like i had called them out of there name because they weren't mexican they were el salvadorian. I mean they looked like it so i assumed they were. Again its not because i didn't know but it was my lack of knowledge that lead me
