Diversity Issues In The Workplace
Humans are unique in so many ways that each have their own personality, skills, knowledge, and attributes that varies from one another. The facility deals with a lot of people in all ages and races. Respect, trust and patience are some of the key factors to build a strong foundation and reputation that is admired and appreciated by all. But along this, there are a lot of circumstances that makes it more hard and challenging to deal with. Diversity issues in the workplace are common that some employees who are well-spoken and advantageous tends to abuse those who are different and underprivileged. Diversity could best describe as an egg with different color but once you open it, it shows similarities from the inside. Acceptance and respect
plays a vital role to keep the organization going and to achieve utmost productivity, income and good morale.
One of the common example of diversity issue is racial discrimination wherein an individual is treated unfairly based on his/her ethnicity by people which have similar qualities. Discrimination happens when the organization prioritizes and selects the applicant that have the same ethnicity as them or those who are certified citizen of the country. Migrants are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace than non-migrants or people born in New Zealand. Racial discrimination is not only associated with a person’s ethnic group, but also whether or not they were born in New Zealand.
