THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
A. Introduction Employment basically means being accepted for the job. It is creating relationship between the employer and employee. This scenario comes right after graduating from college where graduates will seek occupation that suits their chosen professions. In every year there are thousands of graduates from different universities. As an employer, you will have to consider basic things for qualification because of numerous numbers of applicants for one position.
Aiming for one goal, students from different universities study hard to finish and graduate from college with their chosen courses expecting that after graduating they would land into a high end and well paid job. But job seeking is not as easy as we imagined it because every year there are numerous graduates produced from hundreds of universities in the whole country and this will tighten the competition among job seekers. The most problem in our country is that the number of job seekers is greater than the number of available job offerings. This is why every year, unemployment rate would increase percentage. As of today, as reported in The National Statistics Office (NSO), Unemployment rate here in the Philippines increased to 7.50 percent in the first quarter of 2013 from 7.10 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012. This problem can cause mismatch jobs, where in there is a poor match between the skills required for the job and the skills of the job applicant. The most case like this for example, is a nursing graduate who are now working as a call center agent. The chosen degree is far different from the current job.
An increase to unemployment rate every year will even tighten up the competition among the job seekers. This dilemma will force the students to make out the best of everything to help or make it a little easier for them to find a job.
