ABSTRACT
The contribution to the development of any community by all members (men and women, young and old) Leads to the mutual benefit of all stakeholders. Studies have shown that the socialization process in all societies (developed and developing), patriarchal structures and cultural gender biases have continued to encourage and perpetuate gender inequalities.
The Kenyan constitution places very special emphasis on the rights of every Kenyan irrespective of race, gender or ethnicity and the empowerment of women and the marginalized.
In view of this, the research intended to:
a) Determine the gender disparity of / inequality of secondary school teachers in Mashuuru district of Kajiado county.
b) Investigate the effects of this disparity / inequality on the education sector in the district and
c) Suggest recommendations to address the disparity / inequality.
A sample of 16 respondents (1 D.E.O, 5 head teachers and 10 teachers) drawn from 5 schools was used. Data was collected from the respondents using questionnaires. The education officer was also interviewed. The data collected was analyzed using tables and interpretations made using percentages.
The study was carried out in Mashuuru district, Kajiado county.
The findings based on the research questions and objectives have generated conclusions and recommendations.
