Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders, also known as MSF (Medecins sans frontieres), is a multinational humanitarian organization that focuses on giving medical aid to those suffering from injuries during war, natural disasters, and those suffering from diseases. Its mission is "to deliver aid to victims of armed conflict, epidemics, and natural and manmade disasters, and to others who lack healthcare due to social or geographical isolation." MSF has had operations in about 70 countries in 2015. In addition, MSF won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Doctors Without Borders is a successful charity due to not only its mission and various accolades, but to its effectiveness and transparency with finances.

For instance, on the website Charity Navigator, the charity’s rating was an amazing 92.87%. Out of all of the expenses spent by the charity, 88.7% of the expenses is spent on the programs and services it delivers (charity navigator). Only .9% are administrative costs. Based on the charity's mission, their effectiveness in making the world a better place, and their financial transparency, I would definitely say that MSF is a “good” charity. Of course no charity is perfect, and improvements can be made. However, those areas of improvement are miniscule when dealing with the large scale issues that the charity faces daily.
