The communication could be professional or personal, it is important with in a social work environment that information is recorded, as it may be called upon for legal reasons. All communications are confidential, and on a need to know basis, communicate between colleagues is essential, so that it ensures a continuity of care for the client and all staff are aware of the current needs of the client.
Communicate is an essential tool a carer can use to meet the needs of the clients they are caring for. It is a basic requirement of a cares job role to able to communicate with individuals and their families, other members of staff on a daily basis. Communicate with other staff members ensures effective team working and continuity of care. It also ensures any health and safety issues are recognised and reported. All cares attend hand over at the beginning of each shift and also complete communication book after attending an individual, thereby keeping other staff informed and aware of current situations within the work place.
Individuals communicate with cares to express their needs and preferences and to ensure they are met. As a carer I would discuss the options and choices available to the individual to allow them an informed choice regarding their care.
