Death by Cow The treatment of animals in animal farms is greatly disrupted because of major food industries and the financial costs. Cows are genetically and evolutionary modified to eat grass but the farm owner are forcing the cows to eat corn because it is cheaper and corn makes them fat more quickly. This is just one example of the many of the mistreatments of farm animals that was talked about in this documentary. Since cows are meant to eat grass and not corn this high corn diet results in E. coli formation. E. Coli formation is not only a product of the diet but also a product in farm animal lifestyle. The cows stand ankle deep in their manure for most parts of the day if not the entire day, meaning that if one cow was to develop the disease than the entire cow population on the farm will also acquire the disease. This disease is then carried form the farms to the slaughterhouses and form the slaughterhouses to our grocery stores. The documentary reports that this transfer in disease resulted in a death of a young boy from eating a burger at Jack in the Box.

This manipulation of farm animals will result in more detrimental consequences if action is not taken soon. Not only will is cause death, as seen when the boy died from eating the burger, but if these methods are not regulated it can result into an epidemic causing millions of casualties. It is necessary to set boundaries and regulation for these farms so than cows have a better diet and a better lifestyle which will only help us in the future by not contracting diseases form the meat products produced from those

    Reading this makes me surprised that we have supported and invested our money into fast-food restaurants that did not even take care of their employees and was not benefitting individuals with all the growth hormones that were put into their animals for such a long time.     Over the last few decades farming animals for food has grown and evolved into a highly efficient, streamlined industry known as factory farming. Factory farms are owned and operated by big corporations, and despite the fact they make up only a small percentage of farms in the United States, they are responsible for most of the meat and eggs we consume here (Sierra Club, 2005). In factory farming, baby piglets are castrated without anesthesia and thrown into a pen, where they huddle in a corner writhing in pain. Egg laying chickens are crammed four or five to a cage (45x50cm) for their entire lives. They cannot spread their wings or stretch out in any way, and they never see daylight. To prevent them from pecking at one another, their beaks are brutally burnt or sliced to a stub. To produce veal, newborn calves are confined in small crates and restrained to allow a minimum of movement until they are slaughtered at just five months old. Factory farmed animals are treated like non-living commodities, suffering horrendous cruelties to produce the maximum profit at the least amount of cost. In recent years public awareness about factory farming conditions has grown, and so have concerns over animal cruelty and public health.     Now the shipping of the cow gets better. There is a clip in the movie of an oversized cow, that can not walk, being pushed and lifted into a truck to be shipped off. All the work was done by a forklift. Not only is the cow is treated like the crap, that they are covered in, but is treated even less to get the cow into a truck.     Those who are unaware of the issues that factory farmed foods present to their health and to the environment may argue that there is no difference between meat from a happy cow raised in a large grassland and meat from a cow in a factory. They may even state that these animals are treated fairly and are better off in these factories with farmers to take care of them before they are used for their meat and milk.
