Evaluation The field work taught us how hard the change we want can be achieved. The tree planting activity wasn’t that long but one needs commitment in order to do it in a day out. We salute all guides who are always there just so that they can help facilitate the change we want to achieve. The activity not only helped opened our eyes on what is really the condition of our environment, moreover it helped the community where we had tree planting because in time, the seedlings would help prevent flash floods in their area as well as other calamities and more importantly through planting those seedlings, we are able to contribute in the preservation and reforestation of that said community.

A rainforest is a sweltering, thick jungle that gets a lot of rain. Many plants and animal species live there. Most rainforests are located around the equator and near the tropics hence the name tropical rainforest. Rainforests are very important to the earth. They help to purify and clean the air that we breathe. Some of the resources we get from rainforests include chocolate, sugar, cinnamon, paper ,timber and medicine. Deforestation is a serious issue in nature today mostly because loggers our cutting down our air supply and farmers are burning down trees for more and more land. Most of them act illegally, but they should be aware that they are hurting themselves also Some people have been cutting down the trees to sell the wood and make room for farms. When the trees are cut down, many plants and animals die. Because rainforests are so…

Our project was implemented at Brgy 601 Zone 59 District VI, a small community V. Mapa Ext. Sta. Mesa, in the city of Manila. Our group opts to choose this barangay because of its nearness and at the same time, our group leader’s residence is located there. The place was a typical urban community with single story houses, children playing in the streets, bystanders in some benches, single small scale businesses like convenience stores and street carts as among the common things that you could see in a barangay. There are also tall condominiums and small shops and restaturants nearby. High rise infrastructures are observable nearby since the place was situated near some commercialized districts and downtowns of Manila. The barangay seems not that populated and the areas are not so dilapidated like the other barangays. Of course, there still some eye sores the place like the informal settlers who might get damaged seriously if ever calamity like fire or earthquake comes because of their congested situation, and those seem to be like knotted pasta strips of electrical/cable wiring on every posts that could be very dangerous to the neighborhood. Their barangay hall is newly renovated, as we went there for informing them about our said visit and there we are accommodated and assisted warmly by a barangay official and he toured us in some points of the community.…

One of the great functions each tree offers, besides its aesthetic addition, is the sequestering of CO2, carbon dioxide. To elaborate this importance, it is fair to paint the big picture. Heat is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere due to high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other heat trapping gases which ultimately prohibit the heat from being released into space. This is what has caused the virulent phenomenon call “Greenhouse Effect.” Trees naturally remove CO2 from the atmosphere during the state of photosynthesis and use the gas to form carbohydrates utilized in the plant’s structure/function, and in turn releases the pertinent gas, Oxygen (O2) as a byproduct. It is considered that trees act as what some call a Carbon Sink, storing the gas in its branches, trunk, leaves etc. instead of leaving the gas to become free floating and further polluting the atmosphere. In this natural function alone, trees directly reduce the growth of the Greenhouse Effect and counteract Global Warming.…
