Project Abstract:
In my project I am trying to figure out if age affects how much you can remember in a short amount of time. My hypothesis was that a middle age person would remember the most. But after I did my experiment I was proven wrong and found out that a teenager remembers the most in a sort amount of time. Some materials I used for my project are magazine clippings and poster board. What I did to test this was
have different people of different ages look at this poster bored for one minute. When they are done looking at the poster board they have one minute to write down all of the things that they can remember. I think that the teenagers can remember the most because they have to study a lot for school, remember when sports and academic meets and practices are.
Question and Hypothesis: The question that I am doing for my project is, does age affect memory. My hypothesis is that a middle age person will remember the most. I think this because most middle age people have kids and a job. Therefor they must keep up with their kids homework school events, and sporting activities, ext. With their job they must remember paperwork, coffee runs, ext.
Procedure:
1. Time a person for one minute to look at a mix of pictures.
2. When they are done they have one minute write down everything they can remember.
3. When they are done count all the things they got write and take notes.
Results:
The results of this experiment are that a teenager remembered the most out of a child, teen, middle age adult, and an old adult.
Conclusion:
My hypothesis was that a middle age person could remember the most. My hypothesis was proven wrong. If I could do anything differently in my project it would be to give the people that I tested as much time as they needed to write everything down. I think that my question worked out very well with my project.
Bibliography: I got the idea of my project from a pamphlet that my science teacher, Mr. M, handed out to us. I used the Internet for any of the questions that I had. I interviewed my Dad Joe, my sister Macy, my Mom Theresa, and my friend Makayla.
