Does Hamlet To Kill Claudius

In Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, The main character, Hamlet, is motivated by the revenge against King Claudius, his father’s murderer. This plot against Claudius is blazed forward by the ghost of King Hamlet, Hamlet’s father. Leading to the turning point of the play, we see how the revenge drives Hamlet to commit atrocity in order to fulfil his father’s quest. What is revenge? Or more importantly what revenge does Hamlet seek to take out on Claudius? Well, Hamlet’s approach is an eye for an eye, the life of Claudius for the life of King Hamlet. We see how this plot drives Hamlet to take on many guises to trick those he is around into believing he has gone mad, allowing him to fulfill his murder plot, but ruining many relationships along the way. Hamlet also feels regret at times, not taking the opportunity to avenge his father when he finds Claudius praying, only to kill another character, Polonius, in suspicion. Shortly after this brutal revenge plot leads to a bloodbath at the end of the play. But couldn’t Hamlet have taken a different path to revenge, a sort of public shaming/exile? Surely people would have believed him. A possibility of Hamlet dethroning Claudius seems like a feasible course of action, but Hamlet becomes too twisted and sees only
