Individual Assignment
Prepare a paper (and give a short presentation ca. 15 minutes) describing the business culture in a chosen country or market area. You should discuss the elements of the business culture there, consider which features to be crucial and worth knowing in marketing and business there, give recommendations and draw conclusions on appropriate marketing strategies and policies in that country. The papers are to be returned according to timetable agreed during the course (week 43 Monday). This deadline must be followed, it is the only way to complete the course and to get the grade (+ of course the exam, and small assignments). After the presentation the paper will be discussed and evaluated. Each student is expected to participate in these discussions. The extent of the paper is about ca. 7 pages + references !!!!, and at least two books should be quoted and mentioned in the reference list. You must use the theories, concepts etc. learned and discussed / informed during the course (e.g. Hofstede, Hall), the more the better.
Buddhism in Thailand
Thailand is a stronghold of Buddhism.
Buddhists believe that life does not begin with birth and end with death, but rather that every person has several lives based upon the lessons of life not yet learned and acts committed (karma) in previous lives.
Buddhists believe that selfishness and craving result in suffering and that compassion and love bring happiness and well-being.
The true path to peace is to eliminate all desire, a condition which Buddhists define as 'nirvana', an indescribable state free of desire, suffering, or further rebirth, in which a person simply is, and is completely at one with his surroundings.
Buddhism is practised in Thailand by over 90% of the population.
