Doing Well In School Is Better Than Middle School
Throughout my years of middle school, I have had much success in completing my goals and setting myself up for a successful future. By practicing organization and completing homework well and on time, I have been able to complete many things that I have put my mind to. Through doing these things, I have done well in middle school and gotten no less than a B in all my middle school classes. I also feel it is very important to listen and interact in class because if these actions are not completed, homework is a more difficult task. In my opinion doing well in school is more than just being smart because in order to gain true knowledge you have to learn what it is like to listen and pay attention in class. True knowledge is learning how you

After reading the "Do it Better" handout in class my views on how anyone can improve in school and life have changed drastically. With my experiences in life my mindset in how important school education is changed how I view learning. Getting an education to me is very important because I think people who are educated do better in life and are more wealthy. Some people need someone or something to help them build confidence in many aspects of life. For example, when I was in high school my parents reminded me that getting a high school diploma is very important and I was determined to graduate. Many things can make an impact on how your life can…

Ever since I was a child, I was messy with my school work and maybe even with non-school related things too. I was very unorganized and with that came grades that were not acceptable to my parents and, looking more into the future, college. My mother would beg me to start becoming more organized and neat but I would not listen to her. When I started middle school, she heard about a program called AVID that supposedly helped students become more organized, helps you take notes, and helped them look into college and the future. As soon as she realized what the program was for she immediately put me in it. I took the program for all my three years in middle school and my experience, it worked. Thanks to my mother and, of course, the program she…

Studies say that “Waking up before 8:30 is bad for kids”. Middle School start time should start later because sleep affects the students attitudes, grades, and health. Middle School start time should start later because sleep affects kids attitudes. Kids can get forgetful and will not be able to remember everything if they do not get enough sleep. Being tired can get kids moody and make them mad at anything. The kids can even act weird or do weird things if they do not have enough sleep. However, attitude is not the only thing that is affected if a kid does not get enough sleep, grades can be affected too.…

Dear Principal, a class that specializes in focus, prioritizing, organization and study skills is absolutely necessary for any Middle School student. At my age and younger, students have a tendency to be disorganized both physically and mentally. I have a knack for losing and forgetting my homework assignments and my grades suffering. I know I am not alone in this struggle against clutter and forgetfulness. Critical thinking classes provide a student with structure, study skills and the art of prioritizing. I know personally the effects of school on a student who is unprepared and disorganized. The stress and sleepless nights can be avoided with a class dedicated to the student's future. Unlike Math and Language Arts, this class would be linked with the students' success in EVERY other class. The benefits would not only pertain to students, but to the enthusiasm and effectiveness of a teacher. Is there anything more important than preparing a student for his or her future? The skills learned in a critical thinking class would help a student not only through Middle and High School. The study skills and note taking strategies would also be useful and very beneficial in College and whatever career they choose to pursue in the future.…

The first and most basic of these skills is to study. You can’t just shrug off the test coming up tomorrow because even if you think you know the information, you will be surprised how much you don't actually know. Also don’t procrastinate, the longer you put off an assignment the harder it will be for you. Do your work when you get it and then turn it in on time, it’s the easiest and best way to get through your homework. You also need to pay attention in class. If you don’t understand something it’s probably because you weren't listening to the explanation. Another very important skill is to put effort into your work. Take pride in what you do because, and I can't stress this enough, your grades matter! Don’t just brush off a failed project, use it as motivation to push yourself to your full potential. The Last and most important study skill to remember is to stay organized. Without organization you will have a terrible time in middle school. You will lose assignments and lose your mind. But, work and studying aren't the only thing you do in middle school. There is also a social aspect in addition to the…

According to a study conducted by EducationNext, “moving to middle school leads to a substantial drop in student test scores in the first year of the transition, and the relative achievement of middle-school students continues to decline in the subsequent years they spend in such schools.” One aspect of the educational system that I think can be vastly improved is middle school. Although middle schoolers are faced with numerous challenges, the middle school curriculum does not allow students to explore their interests and more importantly, doesn't challenge students enough. In middle school, there is not a lot of advanced coursework that students can complete. This is why I believe that middle school students should have the opportunity to take a more strenuous curriculum by allowing them to take high school classes, as this system will give students the curriculum that they need to succeed and it will give them an abundance of time to explore their interests.…

One positive to Grade Inflation is the fact that students are less stressed over grades and school over all, besides the more money the school gets as a result of higher letter grade output. Although students are less stressed, the do however become lazier which in the end results in more stupid people. Some students might take advantage of this and take more classes or do positive and valuable things outside of school. This would not be a problem if students are responsible for their education, and see that grades are not the main reason why students go to school. Students go to schools to learn and understand what they learn. Teachers in grade school should teach students to focus on the material instead of the grades. The grades should only be a representation of what the students knows and what the students is capable of understands, not how well they can hold their bladder or the amount of printer paper they can take to school.…

Throughout my four years of high school I have always kept my grades up and I am very proud to say that I have maintained a GPA of a 3.6 and above. I have made honor roll all in all my semesters here at LHS. Getting good grades was never really a struggle for me until I got in the harder math classes like AP Statistics and Precalculus. Those were the only classes I struggled with because it takes me more time to comprehend the formulas and understand how to put them into practical use. But no matter what class I have taken I have always learned something new or something different that applies to not only my schoolwork but also the outside world. Knowing all of this knowledge will definitely help in my everyday life outside of highschool…

I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…

During the early school years, students must begin to develop good work habits including preparing for schoolwork, organizing time and effort, and developing effective study skills. As students continue into middle school and high school their success depends, to a large degree, on refining and sustaining these work habits. Time management, organizational skills, and efficient study skills become especially important by this stage.
