Domestic Partner Benefits
Introduction
Businesses that offer domestic partner benefits enjoy a competitive edge and re- enforce diversity and non-discrimination policies and initiatives. Although some companies view themselves as fair, they often don’t offer benefits and are in direct violation of their own discrimination policies. There are many reasons for Parnell, Chris and Mike (PCM) to offer Domestic Partner Benefits: cost and savings, hiring and retention, and equal work for equal pay.(Human Rights Campaign, 2011-2014)

In providing benefits to domestic partners, PCM must look at and weigh the cost and benefits to the business in addition to how it will help the our company. They come from different places and backgrounds. PCM’s productivity will be enhanced by this diversity. PCM treats its staff like family. If PCM does not offer domestic partner benefits to the workers that qualify, PCM will be doing those workers a disservice. PCM would be singling out a group of people that are a resource to it.
PCM would be discriminating against those people by not offering domestic partner benefits. PCM is not a company that discriminates. PCM does not want a lawsuit that can be avoided by offering benefits to domestic partners. Offering domestic partner benefits would ensure equal pay for equal work.
The demographics of the traditional American family are changing. More couples are electing to become domestic partners and remain unmarried, domestic partners include same-sex as well as opposite-sex relationships. Understanding the environment within which employers offer domestic partner benefits (DPBs) is essential (HaGans, D., 2012). Does PCM offer domestic partner benefits to only same sex or to all domestic partners? PCM will offer benefits to all domestic partners. PCM will not leave anyone that qualifies for those
