Females tend to seek for the abuse to end but not the relationship. According to CNN the reason they stay in the abusive relationship is because victims tend to be hope junkies, open-hearted and optimistic. We believe that our loved ones are capable of change.
On the contrary when a victim does end the relationship the number one thing they need is shelter. CNN states it is the most need because they have the urge to feel safe and be protected. But do victims go back? Well in some cases sad to say, but yes they do. They find some sense of being immune to the abuse and began to get used to it as if it is normal. Normal to be with a person that uses violence towards them.
When we do see the victim leave the abusive relationship, statistics state that more than 70% of domestic violence murders happen after the victim has gotten out. Depressing to see a victim die by their abuser. By looking at this case we see that they are troubled by any choice they make. That is staying or leaving.
The main thing victims of domestic violence look for is help. We need to be their advocates. By only giving our time to them we can help domestic violence victims.
