Lebanon may have a liberal standing, but its African workers suffer from one of the worst discrimination in the world, they are being beaten, dragged, abused and even killed. The majority of them are woman and it have been confirmed that 19 percent of Lebanon’s population are domestic workers; around 200,000 migrants. No country in the entire Arab world is free from racial discrimination and race. In Arabic, the term “Abed “is used for a black person or a slave, it’s one of the biggest words of discrimination, and no one is here to stop the people who are using the word “abed” for their maids, this is an example also for the verbal abuse to these migrants who are physically looked upon as inferior due to their positions as servants, and they are being abused by both agencies and employers. It has been confirmed that every week one maid at least dies in Lebanon, either by an employer’s hand or from suicide. Unfortunately, few laws exist to protect foreign maids, so this issue let the employer abuse the maid without thinking that he will be punished, so employers are let of the hook. Furthermore, the discrimination was growing against black and maids in swimming pool and beaches in Lebanon, in the capital of Lebanon – Beirut- Black are not allowed to enter the swimming pool because they consider them as dirty people because of their profession and skin color, It is hard to believe that they post in the swimming pools that radio and cameras are not allowed, playing with palettes is not allowed and maids are not allowed, people should not be excluded from swimming pools because of race, skin color, social class, gender or social status.
