telephones, and internet have immensely made our lives much more convenient than the lives of those before us. Generally speaking, the quality of life now is much higher than back then.
Reading this article made me realize that what I consider to be normal or even as nothing is actually a privilege that not everyone has the opportunity to have. Our generation would be complaining about how slow the internet is or how the air conditioning is not working, when back then, these things did not even exist. Moreover, I am positive that most of us cannot imagine life today without these things. I believe that our generation is takes these small things for granted. Millennials do not realize how fortunate they are because they do not understand the value of what they have. They lack a sense of understanding and gratefulness because they have not gone through what the past generations have.
The article was written last December 2014 by Larry Schwartz of AlterNet, an activist news service. Although the article was mostly research-based and informative, it was also somehow a wake-up call for me because I never thought that life back then was that difficult. It made me appreciate the fact that I was born a millennial and that I did not have to suffer as much as the older generations. Yes, our generation may be going through serious trouble right now but I believe that there is no doubt that millennials have it much easier than the past.
