Don T Look To The Good Old Days Analysis
Some wish that they could turn back time to the good old days, but are the old days that good that they are worth reliving? The title of this article answers that question: “Don't Look to the 'Good Old Days': 31 Ways Life Is Better than Ever Before.” Despite the several problems our generation is facing today, such as global warming, poverty, inequality, corruption, and traffic, the world is actually improving. Life is much better and easier now than it used to be, and the author has given thirty-one reasons to support this. Some reasons include the increase in life expectancy, literacy rate, minimum wage, health care, and the decrease in crime rate, poverty rate, global hunger index, and racism. The concepts of electricity, air conditioning,
telephones, and internet have immensely made our lives much more convenient than the lives of those before us. Generally speaking, the quality of life now is much higher than back then.
Reading this article made me realize that what I consider to be normal or even as nothing is actually a privilege that not everyone has the opportunity to have. Our generation would be complaining about how slow the internet is or how the air conditioning is not working, when back then, these things did not even exist. Moreover, I am positive that most of us cannot imagine life today without these things. I believe that our generation is takes these small things for granted. Millennials do not realize how fortunate they are because they do not understand the value of what they have. They lack a sense of understanding and gratefulness because they have not gone through what the past generations have.
