Donabedian Model Analysis
The Donabedian Model can be described as a conceptual model in which it provides the framework for examining health services and quality of health care. The Donabedian model can be broken down into three categories: the structure, process, and the outcomes. The model was developed in 1966 by Avedis Donabedia who is both a physician and researcher in health care services. Thus, the model continues to be dominate factor when it comes to assessing the quality of care received. The structure of the model can be described as being the context in which care is provided. The scenario in exercise 17.8 illustrates a healthcare situation where the needs of the patients are diverse. I think the progressive care model best suits this scenario because it will make it possible for each patient to be given an exclusive care that depends on the severity of his or her illness. This will allow the patients to regain their health entirely and get along with their lives as usual. Also, with the progressive care model, establishing patient units based on the individual extents at which they need healthcare services will be an important way to manage the patients. The most important aspect of the progressive model to be used in this situation is that even in the various units, it lays the ground for each patient…

Given the reforms in the healthcare system, providers of health care will have to face severe pressure. John Hopkins, being among the Critical Access Hospitals, will have to overcome such pressures through its structure. The health care system structure is often affected by the establishment of health insurance. Health insurance and the existing trend towards health care, that is effectively managed, separate financial flow from the correlation between physicians and patients. In the current health care systems, health practitioners or physicians are directly paid for offering their services. As a result, payments made by clients to doctors do not take into consideration the costs of medical services. On the contrary, regular payments are made by employers to their Medicare, health plans, and insurance companies. Ideally, the payment is via electronic transfer from the banks. Some payments are often deducted from the salaries of an organization’s…
