Donald Duck Video Summary
Crystal Brickhouse
Donald Duck has entered his way through Mathmagic Land. Walking through Mathmagic Land he sees flowing numbers, trees that have square roots on them, walking pencils, and geometric birds telling Donald Duck the number of pi is. Suddenly, he hears a voice that calls himself the “ True Spirit of Adventure” that will guide him into Mathmagic Land. When Donald Duck hears that he is in Mathmagic Land he tells the Spirit that math is for eggheads. The Spirit explains to him without eggheads their would be no music. He takes Donald Duck to Ancient Grease time of Pythagoras, whom is the Father of mathematics and music. The Spirit shows him how Pythagoras discovered the harp, which was made out a simple string that was divided out in fraction to make music. The Spirit explains how today music would have not been discovered without math being involved. Donald Duck shakes Pythagoras hand, then Donald Duck see a pentagram on his hand. The Spirit explains to Donald Duck that is the symbol of Pythagorean society. He tells Donald Duck about the golden section and the golden triangle that contains on the pentagram. The golden rectangle is used in painting, architecture, human body, and nature. When it comes from Pythagoras everything is arranged according to number and mathematical shape. Donald Duck realizes also that games play a part in math. The Spirit shows him different games like chess, or playing pool. Then the Spirit plays a mental game with him, but he finds out that Donald’s mind is too messy. Once his mind was clean the Spirit tells him to think of a circle and put a triangle in the circle and the outcome was a sphere. Then they took a slice of the sphere and made it into a cone. They came up with inventions like a magnifying glass or a telescope. The Spirit takes a cone and describes to Donald Duck that a cone can be use for about any mathematical shapes. No matter how much the cone gets sliced it is always mathematics. The mind is the birthplace

The Pythagorean theorem is one of the earliest theorems known to ancient civilization. The well-known theorem is named after the Greek mathematician and philosopher, Pythagoras. In the Wizard of Oz, after the Scarecrow gets a brain, he states the Pythagorean theorem. However, he mistakenly says it applies to an isosceles triangle when it applies to a right triangle. He not only says the wrong triangle, he also gets the equation wrong.…

To be sure, no lesson provides an authenticity and durability as that gained through first-hand experience. However, if the world's destiny hinged upon the inevitability of personal experience learned through tangible performance, there would undoubtedly be a continuous recycling of mistakes, misadventures, and catastrophes throughout history. As a result, societal advancement would be limited to the knowledge gained and exercised in a lifetime. Imagine every generation being left to repeat essentially the same process in a perpetual state of affairs. In the 1993 movie Groundhog Day, the protagonist (Bill Murray) had to repeat the same day over again, scores of times, in order to gain enough information to break out of an inexplicable cycle…

Throughout the course of history many campaigns and elections have changed and been influenced by the time period surrounding them. The participation in political campaigns and elections in the United States between 1815-1840 greatly changed due to the significant effects of the War of 1812. As a new era formed as a result of the war, change in our nations politics did too. This new era known as “the era of good feelings” paved the way for change within our nations elections and campaigns. Just as it had united the voters of America in the beginning, its decline resulted in a growing show of sectionalism in the voters throughout the country.…

Over the duration of six weeks, we worked in a math unit called "Shadows." During the unit, we worked to solve the unit problem, which was to find a formula for how long a shadow was. When first given the unit problem, I considered it a simple task but soon after I realized there were many steps and ideas that needed to be learned before the unit goal could be reached. Throughout these six weeks, we learned about trigonometry, similarity, patterns, congruency, and using angles to solve problems. These new math ideas were just things we needed to know to find out our bigger goal for the unit.…

For this assignment, we are given instructions to solve problem number 98 from page 371 in Elementary and Intermediate Algebra, which states that Ahmed’s treasure map specifies that the treasure can be found 2x +6 steps from Castle Rock and Vanessa’s half indicates to walk x steps heading north, then 2x + 4 steps toward the east (Dugopolski, 2012). We need use the Pythagorean Theorem to figure out what variable x would be if they were to work together and combine their information. The Pythagorean Theorem indicates that a right triangle has legs with the length of a and b and the longest side of the triangle, the hypotenuse, as the length of c. Thus, the relationship with these lengths is the short equation of a2 + b2 = c2 (Dugopolski, 2012).…
