Although slavery ended in the 1860’s, segregation continued but, was finally brought to an end by the Supreme Court approximately one hundred years later. Not supporting this young man in his efforts to demonstrate his talent was wrong. Fortunately, Dondre’s teammates understood what was happening and supported Dondre,”’The kind of love they showed me that day will conquer hatred every time”’(Davis 564).
Moreover, Caldwell Parish Country Club believes in their “whites only” rule. White and black people are not allowed to play golf together. The board members have upheld this rule and refuse to change it. Caldwell Parish Country Club has made many mistakes with racism. They are strongly against black people playing at the course and continue to elect members that are white.
Overall, Caldwell Parish Country Club need to recognize that they were legally as well as morally wrong by not letting Dondre play that day in 1991. This also showed hatred that is held for different color skin. The board needs to take out the “whites only” rule and let go of the past and welcome as well as promote the present and future. That is a society without racism and
