Dorothy Mare Case Study

PER REPORTER: Lori said Dorothy tested positive for marijuana on admission. Lori said a urine and meconium screening has been done on Baby Girl, but she said the child’s results have not yet come back. It is unknown at this time if the baby is being affected as a result of Dorothy’s drug use while pregnant. Lori said the child has not been displaying any type of withdrawal symptoms. However, Lori said the child’s mother reported to her about not having everything she needs for the child when she comes home. According to Dorothy, she does not have a crib for the baby to sleep on and was going to put the child on a fontaine couch. Dorothy said one of her sister’s has been telling her she was going to buy stuff for the baby but still has not bought
anything. Dorothy said when she spoke with her sister she said she would have stuff for the baby when they are discharged from the hospital. Dorothy mentioned that she bought the child two bottles, two pacifiers, and sign her up for WIC already. Lori said the child’s mother does appear to be trying, but she said it concerns her that Dorothy spent money on marijuana and not on the child. Lori also said she is about Dorothy being in the hospital room talking to her sister (Reshieka) instead of making a connection with the child. Lori mentioned that based off what Dorothy has told her, she does have family support. Lori said Dorothy and the child can be found in labor and delivery room number three until tomorrow because they are being discharged tomorrow.
