Double Indemnity Character Analysis

A person can get so ambitious that it can have a negative impact on that person's life. As in James M. Cain book “Double Indemnity”, Walter is one of the focal characters that has many ambitions. Walter is a clever man who works at a well know insurance company and has made his own company as well. A well established man with his life a success a good job, getting paid good money, and single what more can a man want. Walter was so clever that he turned very ambitious one day. His life would change completely when he meets Phyllis a disguised snake as a dainty flower. As Walters grows ambitious it clouds his vision to see the consequences that will affect his love life, job, and personal health. Walter grows an ambition for money which symbolizes
Walter started to like Lola and he could not do nothing about it because he killed her father. He felt love for Phyllis better said lust. He felt lust for her but that stopped when he found out what she was capable. She seemed like an angel and harmless but in reality a cold blooded killer. What he felt for Lola was love he can see himself with her. He can see them growing old with each other. His actions lead him to do bad things. Walter a smart guy a strong character but his greed for money and lust make him weak. He is perfect for Lola since she is so pure and at heart but it could never be because he did what he did. He did not see the consequences at first but now he sees them and can not do anything about it . It is too late for Walter can not repent his sins what he did can not be taken back. He can not bring Lola's father back to life therefore he could never have Lolas love. Ambition is not always good. As seen with the main character in James M. He feels lust towards her and decides to follow the lust with ambitions that leads to greed. Very clever Walter but his downfall was his urge for ambition.
