OUT LINE
General purpose: To persuade.
Specific purpose: To persuade my audience that Pakistan government should ban the practice of dowry.
Central idea: To persuade my audience dowry definition, dowry in Islam, dowry deaths, laws against it and how to reduce it.
Introduction:
I. Good evening, respected sir and my dear fellow student, today I’m going to persuade my topic. Before proceeding to my main topic, I like to start my speech by asking a question.
II. If I say that four sisters kill themselves, what would u feel? what could have been reason behind such miserable event?.. it happens actually on (Sept 20, 2013) and was posted in express tribune.
III. Few months ago I was reading about dowry deaths, and I was very surprised+ to know that this could happen because of our status symbol ‘Dowry’.
IV. Today I want to emphasize that dowry is unethical, so Pakistan government should ban the practice of dowry .
(Transition: I’ve pictured vaguely about dowry system in our society, let me illustrate the general definition of dowry)
Body:
I. Dowry is defined as the transfer of goods from bride’s family and as well as groom’s family to fund the new couple.

A. The problem with our society is that.
A.1. This definition is accepted, not 100% but 50%.
A.2. It means funding is only offered by bride’s family in our society.
B. Dowry is originated because of distribution of ancestral wealth.
B.1. This distribution is among son and as well as daughter of offspring.
B.2. But problem created when people divided wealth into two types that is, mobile wealth for daughter and immobile wealth that is for son.
(Transition: Now we aware with the proper definition of dowry, let us discuss dowry in Islam)
